GLP-1 Tracker App: How to Track Doses, Injection Sites, Side Effects and Costs

A practical guide to keeping a simple, private log of your GLP-1 medication, and the story of how we designed and built Glidedose.

Glidedose GLP-1 tracker app screens for dose log, injection sites and weight

If you take a weekly GLP-1 medication, there is more to remember than it first seems. When is the next dose due? Which side did you inject last time? Is your weight trending the way you hoped? Which side effects showed up this week? And what is the prescription really costing you each month?

A GLP-1 tracker app keeps all of that in one place. This guide covers what is worth tracking, what to look for in a tracker app, and how we designed and built Glidedose, a private GLP-1 dose, site, weight and cost tracker for people in the US and Canada. You can read the full project story in our Glidedose case study.

A note before we start: a tracker is a record-keeping tool. It should never tell you what dose to take. Your prescriber and pharmacist are the right people for medical questions, and a good log simply makes those conversations more useful.

Why track your GLP-1 medication

Keeping a simple log has practical benefits:

  • You do not lose track of the schedule. Weekly medications are easy to forget, especially when routines change while travelling or on holiday.
  • You rotate injection sites properly. Rotating where you inject is commonly recommended, and it is hard to remember which zone you used two or three weeks ago.
  • Appointments are more productive. A record of doses, weight and side effects gives your care team real information instead of recollection.
  • You understand the cost. Between list prices, insurance, co-pays and savings programs, many people are unsure what they actually spend.

What to track

Doses and schedule

Record the medication, the amount you were prescribed, the date and time, and where you injected. Then set your schedule, weekly, daily or every few days, so reminders arrive on time. In Glidedose, logging a dose takes a few taps and the home screen shows when the next one is due.

Injection-site rotation

A simple way to rotate sites is to divide the common injection areas into zones and move through them in order. Glidedose uses a body map with six zones. It shows where you last injected and suggests the zone you have used least, so rotation happens without you having to think about it. The Glidedose site also has a plain-language injection site rotation chart.

Weight

Weekly weigh-ins, logged at a similar time of day, give a clearer trend than daily numbers. A chart of weekly averages is more encouraging, and more honest, than a single reading.

Side effects

Rate how you feel on the things that matter to you, such as nausea, fatigue and appetite, and note anything unusual. Over a few weeks a side-effect journal shows patterns, for example whether symptoms ease after the first days following a dose. The Glidedose guide to tracking GLP-1 side effects explains a practical approach.

Cost and supply

Log the pens or vials you pick up and what you paid at the pharmacy. Over time you can see your monthly spend, a projected monthly cost and when you will need a refill. Because prices and coverage differ so much between countries, a tracker used in North America should handle both US and Canadian dollars.

What to look for in a GLP-1 tracker app

Not every health app is built with care for sensitive information. Before you start logging, check these points:

  1. Privacy. Does the app need an account? Where is your data stored? Does it show ads or use analytics? Health logs are personal, and the safest data is data that never leaves your phone.
  2. It stays a log. A tracker should record what you and your prescriber decided, not suggest doses.
  3. Flexible schedules. Weekly is common, but some medications and plans are daily or every few days.
  4. Site rotation built in. A body map with a suggested next zone is much easier than remembering.
  5. Costs in your currency. If you are in Canada you want Canadian dollars, not a converted US price.
  6. Export. You should be able to share your records with your care team, for example as a CSV file.

How we designed and built Glidedose

Glidedose is a product designed and developed by Startup Slang, end to end: the brand, the iPhone and Android app and the website.

Private by design

The first decision was the most important one. Glidedose stores everything on the device. There is no account, no ads and no analytics. That shaped the architecture, and it is also the clearest promise we could make to the people using it.

Strictly a record-keeping tool

We built the product around a firm rule: Glidedose never suggests or calculates doses, and it carries no drug brand names or logos in its name or icon. It records what you and your prescriber decided, and leaves medical decisions to medical professionals.

One codebase for iOS and Android

We built the app with Expo, React Native and TypeScript, so a single codebase serves iPhone and Android. The core logic, such as schedules, reminders, site rotation and cost calculations, lives in a separate library with automated tests, which keeps it reliable as the app grows.

Calm, simple flows

People open a medication tracker at the same moment every week, sometimes when they are not feeling their best. We designed short flows with large controls, a home screen that answers "when is my next dose?" at a glance, and charts that are easy to read.

A free core, with Pro for power users

Dose logging, reminders, site rotation and recent weight history are free. An optional Glidedose Pro subscription adds the cost and supply tracker, the full weight chart and CSV export.

A website built around real questions

People researching GLP-1 medication search for practical answers: what it costs without insurance, which savings programs exist, what changes in Canada, what to do about a missed dose. We built glidedose.com around those questions with in-depth guides for US and Canadian readers, including GLP-1 cost in Canada and GLP-1 cost without insurance in the US. Each guide links to the app, so the site helps people discover Glidedose through search.

Getting started with a GLP-1 log

You do not need an app to start. A notebook works. But whichever tool you use, a good routine looks like this:

  1. Log each dose right after you take it, with the time and injection site.
  2. Weigh in once a week, at a similar time of day.
  3. Note side effects the same day, with a simple rating.
  4. Keep pharmacy receipts, or log what you paid.
  5. Bring a summary or an export to your next appointment.

Glidedose is designed to make each of those steps take a few seconds. Learn more at glidedose.com; the iPhone and Android apps are being prepared for the App Store and Google Play.

Building a health or wellness app

Health apps carry extra responsibility: privacy, accessibility and clear limits on what the product should and should not do. Glidedose shows how a focused, private product can be designed and built quickly with a modern cross-platform stack, and paired with a website that earns search traffic.

If you are planning an app, Startup Slang can take it from product design to a store-ready build. See our mobile app development services, read the Glidedose case study, or see how we built Wirewright, an electrician calculator app.
