Shopify was able to take on 2020 and its madness of a ride by helping many smaller businesses, restaurants and retail brands bring their brick and mortar spaces into the digital era. According to Shopify, new stores created on the Shopify platform grew 71% in Q2 2020 compared to Q1 2020, with a record number of merchants added to the platform in Q3.
“At Shopify, we believe commerce is more than a transaction; it’s a relationship between a business and its customers. It’s only possible to report on the future by examining both audiences together,” said Harley Finkelstein, President, Shopify.
Shopping online is the new normal with more younger demographics owning mobile devices and having a tangible effect on consumerism so how can you optimize your Shopify store to bring your website into 2021 and beyond?
Using all that Shopify has to offer would be the simplest answer but what does that mean exactly? Let us give you the 411 with some tips and tricks on how you can tweak your business process to convert more clients and therefore, make more sales.

Tip: Do More with What You’ve Got with Sales Channels and Applications
Did you know that you could sell on different online sales channels on your Shopify Website? Sales channels represent the different platforms where you sell your products. By connecting a different sales channel to Shopify, you can keep track of your products, orders, and customers all in one place instead of multiple platforms.
With Facebook, post and sell your products directly from the Shop tab on your store's Facebook page. On Amazon, manage your Amazon listings and Shopify products in a single location. Turn your likes into orders by using Messenger where you can sell directly from conversations with customers and Instagram by tagging your products and listing your products on the new shopping section.
You can even use third party applications, found on the Shopify App store, that can help you do more faster. From shipping setups to customer reviews, third party apps can help you fine tune your online business so that your clientele has the best user experience while checking out!

Tip: Adapt To The Times And Evolve
As previously mentioned, 2020 took us for an overwhelming ride. While many businesses have gone extinct, many others have found a way to still manage their style as a brand and enter the eCommerce world. In Shopify’s Future of the Commerce 2021 Report, many consumers are afraid to return to brick and mortar stores.
Over half of consumers surveyed (53%) avoided busy shopping times or crowds in the past six months, and 46% said they feel uncomfortable shopping in-person. Another aspect of the times we find ourselves in has more and more people (50% of people surveyed) interested in smaller businesses and supporting local businesses.
Best tips to avail to them would be to showcase your brand in an authentic tone and providing little perks like free shipping over a certain threshold.
Tip: Make your Site Mobile Friendly
With over 70% of the population using mobile devices on a daily basis, having a site that is not only eye catching but mobile friendly is quite the balancing act. It’s a good idea to get rid of anything in a mobile UI that isn’t absolutely necessary.
A great tip is to strive for minimalism, but not at the risk of losing all functionality of a website. Focus on ensuring that your call-to-actions are being prioritized as direct manipulation of onscreen content engages people and facilitates understanding.
